There is a redevelopment plan for the Haddon Avenue downtown corridor, and other urban centers in the township including areas on the Black Horse Pike, Route 130, and the White Horse Pike, according to Park. Park and township officials are working with the state Department of Environmental Protection (D.E.P.) and the owner of the property, Russell Baker, to devise a plan. ![]() The Dy-Dee property, formerly a diaper service, is to be cleaned-up. The township is also exploring the possibility of revitalizing the downtown area. There are a few hardwood trees along the periphery of the site, which perhaps could afford some shade to parents watching their children participating in sports. The club land is already cleared and flat. The tennis club site has been “appraised by two appraisers,” according to Park, and a Green Acres application has been submitted for 25 percent funding from a grant and low-interest loans. In Park’s words the tennis club seems to be “a faltering operation” as membership has dwindled. The tennis club is adjacent to the restaurant and directly across the street from the H.T.A.A.’s main complex of fields, and seems to be the ideal location for playing fields for the youth of Haddon Township. The Green Valley Tennis Club is adjacent to what once was the Green Valley Dairy Farm and Restaurant. ![]() The Haddon Township Athletic Association (H.T.A.A.) originally asked for four new fields, but that plan has been scaled down to permit perhaps only two fields. ![]() Although “we are looking at other sites,” Park made it clear that one or two fields may still be built at the Tract. ![]()
